Song Agenda for May 24th Chapel

Hi Everyone,
Again, great practice on Thursday - you all sounded fantastic!
Remember, Mr. Schneider is speaking first on 'Spiritual Warfare' in  chapel.  After he's done, we're up and the song order will be something like this:

Shout Unto God   Key of D (but we actually never play that chord - ironic, huh?)
https://youtu.be/IQcgtQ8-Ws4
'The enemy has been defeated...'   (repeat around 8 times, whole band building every time)

  • A.Guitar, bass, and keys (pad) start
  • Drums join, first with that beat we were talking about (snare 1/2 time with toms in between)
  • Getting bigger, guitars get more busy and louder
  • drums full on, tambourine going
  • I'll signal for when we go into....
'Shout unto God with a voice....'   (again repeat about 8 times, but staring with JUST PERCUSSION)
  • First 2 times - JUST DRUMS, TAMBOURINE, and singers FULL ON (you're almost shouting)
  • Next two times - Band joins, but does a single large SHOT on every chord
  • Next four times - everyone FULL ON
  • End on G chord - BIG BIG BIG ending
After the ending, E. Guitar can start right into....

Let God Arise  Key of E
  • Intro - like we practiced
  • Verse 1 - Just drums, bass, and singers - no keys or guitars until the C#m on 'See'
  • Pre-chorus
  • Chorus - full on - no stopping this time
  • Instrumental - like intro
  • Verse 2 - like we practiced
  • Pre-chorus - singers harmonizing
  • Chorus - 2 times - full on all band and singers
  • Instrumental to bridge (using pre-chorus chords)  E.guitar can play solid, whole note chords until singers start singing
  • Bridge (really like pre-chorus, just lots of times, starting quiet and building)
  • Chorus - Band holds chords on 'Arise' each time, then back in full on 'Reigns'
  • Chorus
  • Instrumental to end
This is Amazing Grace   Key of D  We might cut this some for time's sake
  • Intro - band starts big - everyone in, including tambourine.  Keys with solo line
  • Verses 1 & 2 - drums, bass, organ, & singers, but everyone build 'the King of Glory...' into the chorus.  Singers need to clap
  • Chorus - with tambourine!
  • Verses 3 & 4 - full band - instruments with shots. Big build into chorus
  • Chorus - with tambourine!
  • Bridge - 2 times.  First time quieter.  Second time with tambourine and band shots
  • Chorus - 2 times - everyone full
  • Instrument out
I Surrender    Key of D  (but starts on Bm)
  • Intro - Drums, guitars, and keys
  • Verse 1 - band much quieter - mostly just keys and A. guitar
  • Chorus - band a little bigger
  • Verse 2 - full drums - singers harmonizing.  Tambourine going
  • Chorus - full band with tambourine
  • Instrumental -  (bridge chords, full band)
  • Bridge
  • Instrumental - E. Guitar solo with Bridge chords
  • Chorus
Overwhelmed    Key of G
  • Intro - A. guitar, keys, bass, and drums
  • Verse 1 - bass drum every beat, band is quiet
  • Chorus - held notes.  Bass drum only on chord changes until chorus finishes, than back to bass drum every beat
  • Verse 2 - Full drum beat.  Band builds to chorus
  • Chorus - 2 times - full band, singers harmonizing
  • Bridge - as we practiced, quiet, but building each time to big last time before...
  • Chorus - full on
  • Instrumental - same as intro.  Singers can sing a new song here
  • Bridge - almost everyone instrumentally drops out, but we'll build it again
  • Chorus - Band holds the note on 'Delight', does shots on 'Glory', 'of', and 'presence', and then back in full on when we get to 'overwhelmed'
  • Instrumental out (same as intro)

Great practice yesterday everyone!  Here's the songs we practiced and talked about:

You all have to listen to this one - the full thing.  They do some pretty fun stuff with this one  'Wake up!!!'

Next Chapel - April 26th Songs

April 20 - great practice today everyone!  I really enjoyed it.  In fact, even if Wednesday doesn't go well, practice as good enough for me  :-)  ...that doesn't mean we shouldn't try our best on Wednesday though.   Tambourine sounds good in every song, so percussionists, if you aren't drumming, please play it!

So our Song Agenda for Wednesday is:

Sing, Sing, Sing    Key of E  Chord Chart

  • Intro - instruments chugging like we practiced
  • Chorus - just once
  • Verse
  • Chorus - 2 times
  • Instrumental - E  D   A  A
  • Chorus - quiet
  • Chorus - Loud and big

**********************************

So if you haven't heard, our next chapel is on April 26th.  We worked through a few songs for this chapel in last practice.  Next Thursday will be our last practice before this next chapel, so please try and be present.   The four songs we decided on last Thursday (due to this squashed schedule) are:

- The Happy Song   Key of D       Chord Chart
- Praises                   Key of G       Chord Chart
- Good Good Father   Key of E     Chord Chart
- Jesus We Love You  Key of G    Chord Chart

I'm a little uneasy about that one fast song and three slow songs still, but that's the way things stand currently.  I was thinking we could either swap 'The Happy Song' with 'Sing, Sing, Sing' or keep 'The Happy Song' and swap 'Praises' with 'Sing, Sing, Sing'....   Thoughts?
